Captain America To Be Grand Marshal For 2014 Daytona 500

Okay, not really Captain America. But Chris Evans really is going to be the Grand Marshal for the 56th running of the Great American Race this Sunday, and the fact that he plays a certain star-spangled Avenger is certainly on the mind of Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III:

"What better way to kick off ‘The Great American Race’ than with Captain America, Chris Evans, giving the command to start engines. We look forward to having him be a part of our pre-race ceremonies in front of more than a hundred thousand race fans in attendance and millions more watching on Fox as we launch the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season."

When Captain America tells you to start your engines, you’d better do it!

In all seriousness, having Evans participate is just another cog in the wheel of publicity for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which will be in theaters before you know it (otherwise known as April 4). Maybe not enough of a reason to watch if you aren’t into racing, but a cool bonus if you are.
