Waid And Bagley Explore Who Shot Bruce Banner In Hulk #1

Does dropping the “Indestructible” part of the title for the new Hulk series mean that the Jade Giant is less impervious to harm?

Probably not, but Bruce Banner is just a man, and at the conclusion of Indestructible Hulk, an unknown assailant left him dangerously close to death. Who shot J.R. … er, Bruce? That’s what writer Mark Waid and artist Mark Bagley are going to begin revealing in Hulk #1.

“As our series opens, Banner’s at death’s door,” Waid said in a press release. “…having learned something about himself that cuts him to the quick and calls into question everything he’s been doing for what he believes is the public good.  And things don’t improve for him from there. You’ll see Bruce Banner in a whole new light.”

And since the Hulk has never been what you’d call the shy, retiring type, he’s not likely to take the attack lightly. He very well may take the search for answers into his own giant hands, and that means things are going to get smashed.

Hulk #1 hits stores and digital on April 16 with a cover by Jerome Opena and variant covers by Bagley, Chris Samnee and Skottie Young. Enjoy some of Bagley’s pages below.
