Captain America Gets Another New Costume In Avengers: Age Of Ultron

In the comics, it’s the Wasp who is the reigning champ of multiple costumes among the Avengers — and super heroes in general, for that matter. It’s a different story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the hero who never shows up looking the same in two straight appearances is one guy who you wouldn’t think would care about changing threads: Captain America.

So far, Cap’s been in three movies and had three different costumes. In Captain America: The First Avenger, he looked like this:

Then in The Avengers, he lost the shoulder straps, chin strap and some of the wartime utility pouches for a more streamlined look:

For Captain America: The Winter Soldier, his suit de-emphasizes the red and white, almost looking like a cross between the standard Cap outfit and the one Steve Rogers wore when he first came back from being “dead”:

Surely he wouldn’t get another new costume for Avengers: Age of Ultron, right? Uh, no, at least according to pics from the set tweeted by the folks at Earth Prime Weekly. Looks like Mr. Rogers is once again getting back into a costume that boldly shows off all three colors in the American flag, and with shoulder emblems that call to mind the Ultimate Universe Captain America:

I never thought we’d have to do a fashion post on Captain America, but … well, the man obviously likes his new work clothes! The cynical view would be that Marvel just wants to keep changing things up to sell toys and other tie-in merchandise, but who knows? Place your bets on what tweaks we’ll be seeing for Captain America 3 right now!
