Miles Morales Steps Up Even More In Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1

For a young man who’s been holding down the job of Spider-Man in his world for less than three years (of real life time, that is), Miles Morales has been a busy guy. He’s been thrown into the fire in ways that Peter Parker never even experienced, and he’s come out in one piece from some harrowing situations.

With S.H.I.E.L.D. gone in the aftermath of Cataclysm, there’s a need for Morales to step to the forefront of the Ultimate Universe in an even more prominent role, and what better way to showcase that than with a brand new #1 issue? Writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Marquez are teaming up to bring readers Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1 on May 7, but it’s not going to be all fun and games: Marvel is teasing the return of “one of the most dangerous foes in the entire Ultimate Universe” and “one of the greatest Spidey villains in history.”

We’ll assume that’s just one bad guy. There’s also a last page twist that will apparently cause jaws to drop and eyeballs to bug out.

“The reaction to Miles is one of the great joys of my life and career,” Bendis said in a press release. “I am so excited to join David [Marquez] and Justin [Ponsor] for the next and the new. I am going to have to unplug my computer when this issue ships…”

Now that’s a sales pitch! Check out some pages from Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1 along with variant covers by Fiona Staples and Brandon Peterson below.
