More Wolverine For Hugh Jackman?

Not that long ago, it was looking like Hugh Jackman was nearing the end of his time as Wolverine. You could hardly blame him, given that the Aussie actor will be appearing as Logan for the seventh time on-screen when X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters later this week.

But as he’s been making the rounds to red carpet premieres for the new film, he sounds like he’s been refreshed, enough so that he’d consider remaining in the role for a few more go-rounds. Here’s what he told IGN:

"After seeing this movie, the whole thing feels fresher to me than ever. And during this movie … I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s kind of like a clean slate, so who knows where it’s going to go. As long as I have the passion for it, and the fans will have me."

On top of that, he’s got a pretty cool idea about a team-up he’d like to have happen:

"I would love to see him as part of the Avengers. Because there’s a great dysfunction among that team, and I think Wolverine would fit right into that. He’d like that."

As Wolverine has spent the better part of the last decade as an Avenger, that’s not a crazy idea, though it’s highly unlikely to happen thanks to the movie rights issues involved.

In any case, it’s nice to know an actor who has become so closely identified with the super hero he portrays feels like there’s still life left in his run. As far as the “clean slate” he’s referring to, we’ll know more about that in just a few days.
