Arrow To Return And The Flash To Debut Week Of October 6

Though The CW resisted the urge to pair Arrow and The Flash on the same night for a one-two DC super hero punch for the upcoming fall TV season, the network is going to use some synergy between the two shows to ensure that they both hit the mark – or both hit the ground running, depending on which bad pun you prefer.

The CW announced its plans for both shows Wednesday, and they will both air their first new episodes on the same week. The Flash will air its pilot on Tuesday, October 7 at 8 pm, while Arrow returns with its Season 3 debut on Wednesday, October 8 at 8 pm. Replays of The Flash will also air after Arrow on October 8 and October 15 at 9 pm before the regular show airing in that timeslot returns on October 22.

It’s already known that Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen will appear alongside Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen in the latter’s series premiere. But just in case anyone has missed out on how the whole thing got started, The CW will also re-air the two episodes of Arrow that introduced Allen on Wednesday, October 1.

It’ll be interesting to see how strongly the two series remain linked going forward. Most observers see the network’s reluctance to pair them on the schedule as a vote of confidence for The Flash, potentially giving The CW another night of strong ratings (by its standards, that is) on Tuesdays. One thing is certain: fans of DC comics won’t be able to say the middle part of their weeks will be boring come October.
