SDCC 2014: Young Justice Coming Back?

The detectives over at Comicbook.com may have found a clue in Warner Brothers’ SDCC 2014 panel schedule announcement — the return of Young Justice.  The critically acclaimed animated series was disappointingly canceled in 2013 and fans have been clamoring for its return.  A “wink wink nudge nudge” line was added in the synopsis for their Sunday 12PM A Batman for All Seasons panel at Comic-Con International.  While WB hasn’t given any hints to the series’ revival, it did emphasize the word “Young” in the write-up:

"Attendees who stick around to the end will be privy to a special WAC announcement that will excite fans both “Young” and old."

Even if it’s a Young Justice-related event, it may not be what fans are hoping for.  Because the news is coming from the Warner Archive Collection (WAC), Comicbook.com thinks that it may be an announcement for a future DVD collection versus a return for the series.

Young Justice was a DC Universe adaptation that focused on younger characters — Superboy, Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Miss Martian, and Speedy.  Though bearing the same name as the Peter David, Todd Dezago, and Todd Nauck comic book series, it was not a direct adaptation.  The teenage superheroes formed a covert group known as The Team — a younger counterpart to the more famous and mature Justice League.  Audiences praised the series’ hallmark of complex stories and well-developed characters.

Fans will just have to wait until July 27th to see what WB has to offer.  Until then, keep signing that petition.
