Grinding It Out In Spider-Man Unlimited

If the first thing that comes to mond when I say grinding is this 2002 single by The Clipse, then I commend you for your excellent taste in hip-hop.

But I’m actually talking about grinding in its gaming sense, which means to do something repeatedly in order to gain a specific reward. It’s often the domain of MMOs, but it also applies in Spider-Man Unlimited.

As an example, take the current event, “Enter Electro!” The top prize on the leaderboard is a free Premium Portal and 250 units of ISO-8, which is a pretty great reward. Unfortunately, it requires you to throw down a better run than everyone else in your group of 1,000 players, and if you’re like me, that makes it virtually impossible.

Fortunately, Gameloft structured the events in Spider-Man Unlimited so you can grind your way to something nice as well. In this case, it’s the Electro-Proof Spider-Man, who’s likely to be useful when Issue 3 brings us Electro later this week.

You can guarantee yourself Electro-Proof Spider-Man if you defeat a total of 60 bosses, but again, if you’re only so-so at the game like I am, that means a total of about 40-50 runs through the event stage. The levels aren’t exactly the same every time through, but they’re awfully similar, which makes me wonder how many players do them enough times to get the top reward.

Are you grinding it out or content to make runs through Unlimited Mode to switch things up?
