Update: Yep, Even DC Thinks These T-Shirts Are Sexist

For anyone out there who doesn’t think Comic Book Resources does “real” journalism, let this stand as Exhibit A that the world’s foremost comics-related site certainly does. It was the site that did the lion’s share of the work bringing the shirts you see above to the attention of the public a few days ago, and it even got DC to respond to its question over whether or not the messages they send are sexist and potentially offensive.

As it turns out, DC thinks they are, sending CBR a statement that included the following:

"All our fans are incredibly important to us, and we understand that the messages on certain t-shirts are offensive. We agree."

It also says that the company will change the way it goes about its design processes, which is a subtle way of passing the buck on this one, though probably also true. If you question whether DC always should have had a tighter reign on licensors, keep in mind that its characters are featured on tons of licensed products, and some things invariably slip through the cracks.

Nice work CBR, and way to step up and own it, DC.
