The year, and thus the 2014 comic convention season, might be in the home stretch, but that doesn’t mean the Wizard World shows that are left are getting left out of the Marvel variant cover program.

More from Conventions And Shows

Wizard World and Marvel revealed today that the inaugural Wizard World Tulsa Comic Con is receiving a limited edition version of Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #1 with a variant cover by Mike Grell, limited to 3,000 copies and given away for free to all VIP attendees at the show. The new series sees Sam Wilson thrust into a leadership role just as he’s getting his wings under him as Captain America, and he’s got a new mission statement in mind for the Mighty Avengers team.

Grell is perhaps best known for his work on DC properties like Green Arrow and The Warlord, but the veteran artist has also worked for Marvel, Image and other publishers during his lengthy career.

“Mike Grell is a legend in the comic industry,” Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel said in a press release. “His unique, inimitable style has given birth to some beautiful covers over the years and we’re thrilled he could produce such a stunning Captain America & The Mighty Avengers #1 cover for Wizard World Tulsa.”

Along with Grell, who will be in attendance to autograph the variant, Tulsa Comic Con boasts a lineup of comic creators that includes Neal Adams, Ethan Van Sciver and Kevin Maguire, just to name a few. Like all Wizard World shows, the guest list also has pop culture personalities like Norman Reedus, William Shatner and Robert Englund available for autograph or photo op opportunities via special VIP packages.

Wizard World Tulsa Comic Con will take place at the Cox Business Center from November 7-9. Full information on guests, ticket packages and more can be found at WizardWorld.com.
