Marvel and director Kenneth Branagh really had their work cut out for them. They had to get audiences to buy that Thor, Loki, and all of Asgard exists in the MCU. And they mostly succeeded through the grounded, science-based approach, along with winning performances from Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston.
In addition, Branagh appropriately adds a nice Shakespearean aesthetic to the piece, which still makes it unique among the studio’s other cinematic endeavors. Sure the plot is predictable and it does get a little corny at times, but it still makes for a solid entry in the Marvel canon.
