The name Steven R. McQueen may sound familiar to fans of the CW hit series The Vampire Diaries.  If Chris McKay is looking for an actor who could play a younger version of Nightwing, Steven R. McQueen can pull it off.

The former Vampire Diaries star is just 29 which falls in line with the current Batman, Ben Affleck. On TVD, McQueen played Jeremy Gilbert, the younger brother of Elena Gilbert. As Jeremy, McQueen went from a teenage delinquent to a vampire hunter. If you compare him to the comics, McQueen has the looks, height, and bulk which helps with fans getting behind him.

Additionally, McQueen’s name has been brought up as  Nightwing before — a rumor he started a few years back.  The rumor garnered major fan support especially fueling artist Boss Logic to create a cool piece of fan art teasing how McQueen would look as Nightwing. While that never came to fruition, there’s a chance he could be in line for the role in the DCEU.

McQueen is the sort of fresh face actor that can be used to play an older and younger version of Dick Grayson. McQueen would be ideally suited for a role that features Grayson’s difficulties transitioning from sidekick to solo hero.
