1. Winn’s departure

Let’s be honest, nobody wanted to say goodbye to Winn Schott. Jeremy Jordan has been part of the show since the beginning and is undoubtedly one of the most integral pieces to this Kryptonian puzzle. Having Team Supergirl take on any threat without Winn by their side just feels wrong. However, while this is the unfortunate truth, we can take some comfort in knowing that he is only shifting to recurring status, which means he’ll pop up every now and again.

Recurring status or not, Winn’s departure was easily one of the most heartbreaking moments of the season. While it was happily triumphant, it didn’t change the fact that we were bawling our eyes out at the emotional moment. As Winn struggled to hold it together as he bid farewell to J’onn, James, Alex and Kara, we were struggling to do the same. We blame Chyler Leigh, who may just have the best/most heartbreaking cry-face in TV history — it gets us every time because she’s that good.

The moment highlighted how important Winn truly is to the show. He was the first person Kara told she was Supergirl, he did make her suit for her, he also made James’s Guardian suit and became the D.E.O.’s biggest asset. There would be no Supergirl without Winn Schott, and this was the beautiful, triumphant exit that the show’s unsung hero deserved.
