6. Sharlto Copley

Fans of the South African born, Sharlto Copley remember when he made his mark in Hollywood. In 2009 Copley starred in the sci-fi action thriller District 9 as Wikus van der Merwe. Wikus wasn’t anything like Black Mask, but Copley was convincing as we watched him transition from human to alien while trying to fight for his name. He followed up by staring in a number of movies including the A-Team remake, Maleficent, and Chappie.

There a couple of roles that projects Copley’s ability to play Black Mask. In Elysium, he showed how badass he could be while playing the intimidating Agent C.M. Kruger. Playing a drug lord wouldn’t be difficult for Copley who has plenty of range albeit his resume doesn’t compare to some of the others on the list.

5. James Franco

Is there anything James Franco hasn’t done. There’s something about Franco that still feels like he’s an underappreciated talent. Still, his resume is littered with examples that prove just how great an actor he is. Franco can be funny, like in This is the End, Pineapple Express, Why Him, and Sausage Party. Or he can be serious, more dramatic like he was in The Dead Girl, 127 Hours, Rise Of Planet of Apes, or Goat.

In Spring Breakers, as a drug dealer and aspiring rapper Franco was a combination of funny and dark. With over 100 IMDB credits there’s plenty film to watch Franco display his acting range. Playing a villain would be great and there’s no better comic book villain than Black Mask.
