The Bad: Slow start
I’m willing to bet a lot of people stopped watching the show after a couple of episodes. Season 2 starts off slow again. Sure, there was an almost immediate fight scene that got people excited about the show. Then it seemed like the series started to go in slow motion again. If people didn’t finish this season, it was in fear of the show being too slow again. For a while, it seemed like it was going to be yet another forgettable season. Thankfully, around episode three or four, the show picked up in a major way.
If there is going to be a third season, it needs to hit immediately. Get people invested in the show right from the first few scenes. This isn’t to say that every episode needs to have hard-hitting action. What the audience needs is an automatic reason to care about things going forward. It took too long for Joy Meachum to become great, and Danny wasn’t the character we saw in episode seven of Luke Cage. Thankfully, the majority of season 2 had a balance of action, drama and good pacing. It was also a smart move to reduce the show to only ten episodes. No need to drag it out.
