3. Captain America: Winter Soldier

This is the MCU movie easily regarded as the best. Captain America: Winter Soldier took all of the elements we love about Steve Rogers, and then took away some of the misconceptions about him. Steve Rogers is boring, he’s not a good fighter, and all sorts of other nonsense. Steve Rogers spent a lot of time fighting for the ideals that he held true to his heart in a world that lost some of those values decades later.

While Rogers believes in keeping the world safe, he was against policing the world before any laws were broken. When he found out that Hydra had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D., it broke his heart. Instead of ducking his head, he prepared for war. Thankfully he had Black Widow to show him how to be covert in this day and age and Sam Wilson to have his back during the final fight.

This movie will always be among people’s top five or ten superhero movies. Sebastian Stan played possibly the most skilled and scary villain in the MCU. He wasn’t Killmonger who had an agenda. He was a heartless killing machine with a mission. The music that played when he showed up gave him an even more ominous tone. The movie also added a ton of action with an amazing story. This was the first time we got to see Captain America in a solo movie in a world he didn’t recognize and it was done masterfully. All of the fight scenes were memorable, none of the twists were predictable, and it stayed as close to the characters as possible. I smiled when Winter Soldier went, “Who the hell is Bucky” like he did in the comics.
