In 2018, we saw the deaths Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Let’s look at the amazing work they did based on our friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man.
First, the comic book community mourned the death of Steve Ditko and now, Stan Lee has passed away. These two legends created a lot of great characters in their time at Marvel Comics and one of the biggest ones they made was Spider-Man.
When the idea first came into Stan Lee’s mind about Spider-Man, people judged it. But Stan Lee and Steve Ditko still went ahead and wrote the story and comic, and they published it in August 1962. The idea turned out to be fantastic and Spider-Man became one of the best superheroes one can relate to and love.
After that, these two continuously made amazing characters aside from Peter Parker like Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Flash Thompson, Betty Brant, J. Jonah Jameson, anti-hero/villain like the Black Cat (also known as Felicia Hardy), They also created legendary villains like Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and many more.
Some of these characters became potential love interests for Peter as well like Gwen Stacy who was his first love but died by the hands of the Green Goblin, Mary Jane who Peter still loves, Felicia Hardy (Black Cat) was his partner for some time as well while crime fighting.
These two brought Spider-Man into the fold with his debut in Amazing Fantasy #15. From there, the web-slinger went on to have his own solo title that is still being released today.
It’s quite depressing that the godfathers of Marvel are no more, especially the fact that Stan Lee appeared in every Marvel movie. He will still appear in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. These two legends have made Marvel ultimate, spectacular and amazing all at once. Both of these legends will be missed and never forgotten.
May Stan Lee and Steve Ditko rest in peace and be happy wherever they are.
