What are the 15 best fight scenes from the Marvel Netflix shows?
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Punisher, and Iron Fist were the first of the gritty Marvel Netflix shows. Other than a few references and jokes to things that affected New York, they remained separate from the movies. These shows displayed what it would look like to have superpowers in a real world.
Some people would use their powers to help them in their line of work like Jessica Jones. Some would do what Luke Cage did and hide them for a while. Others like Daredevil and Iron Fist would train for years to hone their powers and use them to help the innocent. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
Marvel’s Netflix shows had a good run, but Netflix and Marvel have parted ways. These shows gave Netflix some of the best action sequences we’ve seen from a television project. Each character had their own specific fighting style depending on their powers and experience. You wouldn’t see Luke Cage doing back flips or Jessica Jones delivering roundhouse kicks. However, you would see both of them throw people into or through walls. The back-flips and roundhouse kicks were left for Daredevil and Iron Fist. But which Marvel Netflix show fight scenes rank among the franchise’s best?

15. Punisher gym fight
The Punisher Season 2, “One-Eyed Jacks”
Frank Castle needed information and he needed someone with a shady past to get. Thankfully, Turk Barrett is always available. Little did Turk know, Castle counted on Turk to do what he does; look out for himself no matter what. Frank gets to the gym he sent Turk into and is met by a bunch of goons. Their leader orders them to attack Frank and extreme violence ensues.
If you wanted Frank to use everything in a gym to viciously dismantle these guys then you’ll get your wish. Frank unleashes Hell on these guys. Kettlebells, metal weight plates, weight bars, and so much more. If there was a kitchen sink, he would have used that too. One guy took everything Frank had and more. He almost won until Frank used a small weight like brass knuckles.. to pummel the guy.
A different weight class
This fight was painful to watch and this is coming from someone who enjoys extremely violent action scenes. It was one of the most creative fights in any Marvel project. It doesn’t rank higher because this is par for the course with Punisher. However, it was perfect to get this list going. If you’re reading this and haven’t seen the fight, be warned. It’s not for the faint at heart.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones
14. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage bar fight
Jessica Jones Season 1, “AKA Crush Syndrome”
An angry drunk decides to gather up his buddies and go after Luke Cage because he had sex with his wife (we’d all be mad). After a short conversation with Luke telling them to leave, they all gang up on him. Jessica Jones shows up just in time to see Luke easily fling the group of guys off of his back.
Jessica and Luke then take care of the group like you’d assume they would. They overpower them and remain careful to not hurt them too bad or expose their powers. That idea gets thrown out the window, though, when the husband tries to stab Luke in the neck and the knife bends. Luke tells the guy to sleep it off and forget what he saw and he’ll do the same.
You’re like me!
This was a pretty straight forward bar fight scene. Two strong brawlers versus a bunch of angry drunks. This scene makes the list because of the significance: Luke and Jessica find out that there’s someone else out there like them.
Sure, the Avengers were revealed to the world, but this was closer to home. Luke and Jessica ended up being romantic for a time – something comic books fans hoped would happen. It’s a shame that the moment didn’t last too long. Who knows, maybe something might happen in Season 3 of Jessica Jones .

13. Luke Cage battle and Crispus Attucks
Luke Cage Season 1, “Who’s Gonna Take the Weight?”
Luke Cage had spent his time trying his best not to use his powers. Too bad for him that didn’t last. After Pops’ Barber Shop was shot up, Cage realized that he’d been holding back too long. It was time to listen to Pops when he told Luke, “Never backward, always forward. Always” and use his powers to help the community. Luke’s first stop? Taking out the criminals at the Crispus Attucks building.
It was bad enough that there was crime in Harlem, but to have a base of operations in a building named after a prominent black figure made it worse. Cage put his headphones in and Wu Tang’s “Bring the Ruckus” started playing. Cage rips the door off of an SUV then gets to work. He runs through Cottonmouth’s goons like Ex-Lax. Nothing could stop him as he tossed henchmen and made his way to their secret room. He came, he saw, and definitely conquered.
Bring the Ruckus!
This fight was important because it was the first time we’ve seen Luke fight for a cause he believed in. This was his big moment for Luke and it was also his first in the series. What made this so special for me was hearing Wu Tang while he was fighting. It gave hip hop fans a sense that the director knew the tone of the show and the character.

12. Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk versus Dexter (Bullseye)
Daredevil Season 3, “A New Napkin”
There’s a lot to pack in even before the fight starts. Matt was looking to take out Fisk because he’s a criminal who plans on ruining New York. Dexter wanted to take out Daredevil out of jealousy and Fisk’s wife Vanessa to make Wilson pay for lying to him. Wilson just wanted to enjoy his wedding night (even though all everything happening is his fault). All of this came to a head in the final episode of Daredevil.
Daredevil was at a crossroad. Killing Wilson Fisk meant he wouldn’t be around to hurt anyone. However, killing Fisk would cross a line that Matt never intended to. If that wasn’t bad enough, Matt has to also protect Fisk and Vanessa from being killed by Dexter while trying not to be attacked by both of his enemies. Despite the odds Daredevil won. Even after Fisk told Matt he knew who he was, Matt kept his honor and let the court handle him.
Marvel Royal Rumble
The fight displayed everyone’s fighting style perfectly. Dexter isn’t as good of a fighter as Daredevil and he isn’t as tough as Wilson. So Dexter kept his distance and kept trying to kill everyone from a distance. Matt, meanwhile, had a plan for all of them. He kept the fight to his advantage by hitting quick and often. He did this all while protecting Vanessa. Wilson kept the fight close where his size was king. Most free for alls can look sloppy; however, this looked like a work of art.

11. Punisher bar fight.
The Punisher Season 2, “Roadhouse Blues”
At the end of Season 1 of The Punisher, it looked like Frank Castle had finally found some peace. With his family’s death avenged, he didn’t have the need for violence anymore. It was time to start over. It was a nice dream. Too bad a dark murderous cloud follows Frank wherever he goes.
Frank was at a bar where he met a woman and started developing feelings. While he was there, he noticed a young girl named Amy being tailed by a group of people. Frank followed Amy and intervened when she was being assaulted in the bathroom. The violent fight went from the bathroom to the dance floor and ended when Frank shot and killed the people who were dumb enough to follow him after he and Amy left the bar.

The Punisher is back!
Frank hadn’t lost any of his edge or violent creativity during his brief retirement. For example, he noticed their suspicious behavior when they came into the bar and, when it got to the fight, Frank was his normal brutal self. The scene was clear, violent, and realistic. Frank is a versed fighter, but he’s not indestructible. He took his hits and capitalized when he could. More importantly, this set the scene for the rest of the season. There was no doubt that this season wouldn’t be bloodier than the previous one.

10. Wilson Fisk kills Ben Urich
Daredevil Season 1, “The Ones We Leave Behind”
Ben Urich was met at his home by Wilson Fisk who calmly waited in the corner for Urich to return. Fisk asked him if he visited his mother. Urich said yes. Fisk slowly gets angry repeating that Urich went after his mother. Urich said he’d been threatened before and was unfazed.
Unfortunately, Fisk isn’t like most others. As Fisk said, “I’m not here to threaten you. I’m here to kill you.” Fisk then leaped out of his seat and strangled Urich. The camera pans to Urich’s feet as the life is choked from his body.
You went after my mother
Urich was the gutsiest reporter you’d ever meet. Nobody intimidated him. He’d get everything he could for his story with no regard for his physical well-being. Too bad Wilson Fisk isn’t just some random good or gangster. He’s the best of the best. Fisk is as smart and cunning as he is unforgiving. Urich made the mistake of bringing Fisk’s mother into the equation and that got him killed.
This may have been the best scene in any of the Marvel Netflix shows. It was intense and the acting was the best we’ve seen. It may not have been a two-sided fight, but it was one nonetheless. Bring Fisk’s mother into the story and he won’t forgive you. One thing that sticks out was Fisk’s respect for Urich before he killed him. It was almost like he didn’t want to kill him, but knew he had to.

9. Matt versus Stick
Daredevil Season 1, “Stick”
Matt Murdock has a strict no killing code. Regardless of the situation, Matt knows that he can find a way to be victorious without murdering someone. Matt’s mentor Stick doesn’t abide by the same code. Stick killed a kid that was a vessel for a dark entity. Matt wanted to save him until Stick told Matt he killed him by shooting an arrow through the kid’s heart. This set Matt off and the student started fighting his former teacher.
In the beginning, Stick had the upper hand which was not shocking since Stick trained Matt – though the fact that Stick is at least three decades older than Matt did make it a bit more shocking. Eventually, Matt gets the upper hand when he front flips and lands on Stick while Stick had him in a choke-hold. Matt ends the fight and tells Stick to leave the city. Stick leaves with a slight laugh and says, “maybe there’s hope for you yet.”
Student becomes the teacher
It was only a matter of time before their paths collided like this. Matt didn’t become the kind of person Stick wanted him to be. This fight was a heated and hard-hitting fight. Matt was fighting with emotion and it carried him to victory. At the end of the fight, Stick seemed proud of Matt for standing his ground.

8. Punisher Reborn
The Punisher Season 1, “3 AM”
Frank Castle got himself a new name, life, and decided to leave the violence behind him. Unfortunately for Frank (but good for innocent people) he can’t let injustice stand. While at the construction site he was working on, he saw some guys bullying a co-worker he befriended. In Frank’s defense, he did warn the guys before he brutally beat them. They should have listened because Frank then proceeded to unleash an onslaught of violence like we haven’t seen in a Netflix series.
With a sledgehammer in hand, Frank went to work breaking limbs and cracking backs. Some guy even took a sledgehammer to the face. As one guy almost escaped, having gotten in his car and driven away, but Frank grabbed one of their guns and made sure he didn’t. He shot the guy in the head killing him before he could get far. Frank even left a message for his “buddy” who was involved in some shady business: A bag that said, “Leave town” in blood.
Brutality
There had to be something that would get the Punisher back in action. It couldn’t be just any random fight. It had to be for a worthy cause. This was what he needed. Frank needed to unleash on people to get his brutal nature back. Before this, there was no fight in any Marvel project more ruthless than this. While our No. 6 fight may come close, this was a one-sided massacre.

7. Punisher VS Billy Russo
The Punisher Season 1, “Memento Mori”
It took a long time and a lot of blood, but Frank Castle found everyone responsible for the death of his family. Among those involved was Frank’s best friend Billy Russo. It was time for Billy to settle up right where Frank lost his family. You’d look at Billy and assume he didn’t stand a chance against the Punisher. He may look and dress like a pretty-boy, but he is every bit as tough as Frank is!
They punched, kicked, and even stabbed each other repeatedly. Frank had the disadvantage of being beaten down for days while Billy was essentially living in luxury. Frank wasn’t going to let something like being severely injured stop him, though, and he had righteous vengeance on his side.
Just when things looked bleak for Frank, he managed to get the advantage by stabbing Billy with a giant piece of broken glass. After that, we may have seen the most brutal moment in the Netflix series. Frank dragged Billy’s face across a broken mirror and then repeatedly smashed Billy’s face on the mirror. Frank wanted Billy to see his mangled face every morning and remember what he did.
There's more where that came from, pal. pic.twitter.com/Ox1XYfVSGT

Jigsawed
Beyond it being one heck of a fight, Frank got revenge better than anyone on this list. Frank finished off Billy and made certain that he scarred him for life. Season 2 of The Punisher may have shown that Frank should’ve killed Billy, but it was worth it to see what he did to the man who betrayed him during this showdown.

6. Punisher VS John Pilgrim
The Punisher Season 2, “The Whirlwind”
Frank and John Pilgrim had been playing a game of cat and mouse almost the entire season. When they met, both men were weathered and ready to fall over. More importantly, they both had something to fight for.
The battle between the two was intense from the very first shot with a shovel from John Pilgrim, to the last hit with a metal gas tank blow from Frank. Neither one of these warriors were willing to give in, but Frank came out victorious. Just as Frank was going to deliver the final blow, Pilgrim asked Frank not to hurt his boys. This gave Frank a reason to pause.
You’re the Whirlwind
John Pilgrim called Frank “The Whirlwind.” This was reference to a Bible verse where the whirlwind was used to describe the wrath of God (which made sense since Pilgrim is a man of faith). Frank just seemed to keep coming no matter what Pilgrim hit Frank with or how hard. Frank refused to stay down because he had a righteous cause. But Frank saw something in John; a father who legitimately loved his sons. In that one moment, Frank made the decision to not kill him.
This fight exceeded expectations and having it in a dirty junk filled area was perfect. This gave both Frank and John enough “toys” to use in their fight. No guns. Just two guys using whatever they can get their hands on.

5. The Defenders Assemble
Just when it looked like Danny Rand was going to be abducted by the Hand, Luke Cage comes busting through the door right on time. This pause gave Danny the distraction he needed to get free. Even outnumbered and having never fought together, Luke and Danny made quick work of the goons.
Unbeknownst to them, Matt and Jessica were on their way to see what the commotion was. Jessica is surprised to see Luke busts through the wall since she hadn’t seen him since their fight. Before they could exchange pleasantries and introductions, more goons came. It was time for their first hallway fight scene (YAAAAY).
Just when things looked like they were going easy, Elektra shows up. She has no idea that her and Matt had a relationship and the two engage in one heck of a fight. Before she could deliver a final blow with her sword, Danny intervenes and breaks her sword with his Iron Fist and sends her crashing through a wall. The four of them leave the penthouse to find a safe place to talk.
Defenders Assemble!
The series started with each of them having a negative encounter with one another. Jessica and Matt had their issues and Luke and Danny had a fight before Luke saved him. Had fate not brought them together in a negative way, then they wouldn’t have gotten together to save the city. This was the most fun you’ll have in a Marvel Netflix fight scene. The quips were funny and the action was fluid and tailored to each character, while Elektra popping up was a perfect addition to top off the moment.

4. Locked up with Frank Castle
Daredevil Season 2, “Seven Minutes in Heaven”
Frank Castle was in prison and there was no way this was going to end well. Not only was he killing the friends of people who were locked up, he was also in a prison with Wilson Fisk. Frank is on his way back to his cell when he’s confronted by a horde of prisoners armed with homemade weapons. Around a dozen men with rage in their bellies, armed, and ready to kill. They still didn’t bring enough to take out Frank Castle.
Frank Castle took their weapons and used them on his opponents. Stabbing his way through them and breaking their limbs too (as if killing them wasn’t enough). Sure, Frank took some damage, but not enough to make him stop the onslaught of pain he distributed. The other inmates were lucky that the cops with the riot gear showed up. He might have went on to kill every prisoner locked up.
Geez, Frank. @ThePunisher pic.twitter.com/LCtoi495zQ
— Daredevil (@Daredevil) November 10, 2017
You’re locked up with me!
This was Punisher’s first big scene. No Daredevil to hold him back and no guns to help him. Just Frank Castle against the world. This scene showed exactly what Frank is made of. He ran through those inmates like an angry deity and left nothing but a trail of bodies. It was an intense fight scene and the coming out party for the Punisher.

3. Daredevil Prison fight scene
Daredevil Season 3, “Blindsided”
Matt went to prison (using Foggy’s ID) to get information of Wilson FIsk. While there, he got punched in the face and had to go to the infirmary. In the infirmary, Matt was assaulted by prison staff and inmates on Fisk’s order as Matt threatened Vanessa (ask Urich what happens when you involve FIsk’s loved ones). Fisk lets Matt out of the infirmary and is greeted by inmates ready and willing to kill him.
Matt fought different this time around. He seemed more desperate. That desperation made him more dangerous than we’ve seen him. In typical fashion, Matt takes care of everyone who goes after him. This was Matt’s first challenge since coming back from obscurity. Matt was out of shape (for him), injured, and not expecting to have to fight his way out of prison. That didn’t stop him from beating all of the inmates in his way on top of the two guards in riot gear.

Matt versus everyone
This was the scene where Fisk starts putting two and two together and figures out who Matt really is. This is also the start of Matt putting the pieces together to figure out what Fisk is up to.
This fight was another scene done in one shot. With everything that could have gone wrong, they still managed to get this done without complications. Go back and watch this fight and you’ll see how smoothly the switch stunt doubles.
Marvel’s Daredevil
2. Daredevil vs Dexter
Daredevil Season 3, “The Devil You Know”
Wilson FIsk hired Dexter to dress as Daredevil and ruin Daredevil’s image. Luckily, Matt was on site and prevented Dexter from killing Foggy. These two guys had a heck of a fight that was balanced from start to finish. Matt may have been more skilled, but he was still recovering from the events of the Defenders finale allowing Dexter to win the fight and kill his targets.
This fight was absolutely flawless. It showed everything that you’d want from fights: A villain who got the upper-hand in the beginning and a hero who quickly adjusted. We had saw a glimpse of what Dexter could do as Bullseye, but how would he do against someone who could really defend himself?
He’d play to his strengths and use everything around him and attack from a distance. Dexter threw writing utensils, Daredevil’s own trademark batons, and even a computer screen. Then there was the moment that accurately displayed Dexter’s skill when he threw a baseball off a wall and hit Matt right in the face.
Bullseye
This was a perfect representation of Bullseye in a fight. He can’t take Matt in a hand to hand fight so he puts distance between them and uses projectiles. The creative ways Dex used the things he threw. Bouncing them off the wall, taking out lights, etc. This forced Matt to change his style by tying ropes to his forearms.
1. Daredevil’s first Hallway Fight Scene
Daredevil Season 1, “Cut Man”
With the life of a kid on the line, Matt went into enemy territory and fought anyone who got in his way. He surprised the first group of goons in a room and made short work of them. That was the only time anything came easy. More guys came after him. Each one with fresh stamina, while Matt was wearing down. But Matt never quit and he rescued the scared child in danger.
Daredevil’s first big challenge
This was the fight that got everyone crazy about hallway fight scenes. This scene showed the advantage of how someone fighting alone can defeat a group of people at once. Daredevil was just starting out as a hero and he hadn’t gotten the hang of things yet. It was easy to believe that Matt wouldn’t just be running through goons with ease. On top of being new to this, he’s still just a normal human. No unbreakable skin, healing powers, or super strength to get him through. Just decades of training.
Matt had to use everything from his training as a fighter to his senses. Even then, he almost lost. Matt would get beaten, have to sit for second to catch his breath, and get up again. Since he knew a child’s life was on the line, he kept on fighting. This fight could be the reason that people loved Daredevil as much as they did. He was just a man who’s willing to take a beating. Even if he’s only saving one life.
Which Marvel Netflix fight scene from the various Marvel Netflix series has become your personal favorite?
