Riverdale’s second musical episode is almost upon us, but before its students adapt “Heathers”, check out the brand new trailer for “Chapter Fifty-One: BIG FUN”.
The third season of Riverdale has seen the town’s young residents face off against the fear-inducing Gargoyle King, as they attempt to figure out how to put an end to the madness of the “Gryphons & Gargoyles” game that has hooked everyone around them. But many of them have also been dealing with their own problems.
With Betty attempting to stop The Farm from alienating her friends and family, Jughead trying to run his mother out of town, Veronica attempting to keep her Speakeasy afloat and Archie being, well, Archie, there has been a lot for the teens to process this season. And now, it looks like they’re going to get the chance to channel all of that emotion into their annual Riverdale High musical production. If you can’t wait for it, check out the trailer for the upcoming musical special here:
The episode, titled “BIG FUN,” will see the students put on their very own production of Heathers, as they attempt to deal with the stress of being a teenager (and a resident of Riverdale). It came about after Cheryl, following her apparent break-up with Toni, railroaded Kevin into not only ensuring that Heathers was this year’s musical, but that she would be the star.
The special will be Riverdale‘s second musical episode after the show (which always makes time for music in its non-musical episodes) adapted Carrie: The Musical last year. If you recall, that didn’t end too well for anyone involved, so we have to wonder if things will be different this year.
Riverdale returns to The CW this Wednesday, Mar. 20, at 8:00 p.m. ET. Are you excited for the highly anticipated musical episode? How will the students of Riverdale High use Heathers to express themselves? Let us know in the comments below!
