7. Captain America Vs. Iron Man

Film: Captain America: Civil War

Captain America/Steve Rogers and Iron Man/Tony Stark are the very foundations on which the first three phases of the MCU were built. The latter kick-started the whole thing with 2008’s ultra-successful Iron Man while the former was making headlines long before him (chronologically speaking) as “the world’s first superhero.” So in a way, they both deserve the title of being the MCU’s very first superhero.

With all that in mind, you can imagine how awe-inspiring it was to see these two Marvel titans go head-to-head in Captain America: Civil War.

After the pair had dragged everyone else into their conflict, they finally decided to put their issues aside for the greater good. Well, at least they did, until Tony discovered that Bucky was the man who killed his parents all those years ago. Of course, this created further issues between the co-leading men of The Avengers as Cap was intent on protecting his best friend (who had no control over what he was programmed to do).

After trying to kill Bucky on multiple occasions, Tony found himself standing across from Steve. From there, a violent slugfest ensued as these two men decimated each other in an attempt to carry out their respective goals. Steve fought to protect while Tony fought to kill and neither one of them were willing to relent.

In the end, Cap came very close to letting the rage in, but he managed to remember just who he was before he did anything foolish. And although he managed to defuse the situation (by diffusing Iron Man’s suit), even he knew that their relationship had been irreparably damaged.
