Thanos: The Mad Titan’s 7 best moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
By Mark Lynch
3. Beating the Hulk
Movie: Avengers: Infinity War
The Hulk was cruising through most of his battles. He’s not known as the strongest Avenger for nothing. After the battle in New York with the Chitauri and his exploits in the arena on Sakaar, Thanos must have been prepared for a fight with the Hulk. Hulk started their fight dominating Thanos. But that was short-lived, as Thanos unleashed a barrage of attacks and blocks that took the Hulk by surprised. The fight ended when Hulk was lifted over Thanos’ head and slammed to the ground. The Hulk was left beaten and unconscious. If Heimdall didn’t intervene, Hulk would have been killed.
It should be mentioned that Thanos did have the Power Stone at the time. Although, it didn’t appear to be glowing. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t have made a difference. Thanos showed that he was the superior fighter in every way. Hulk had all the strength, but not the skill. Thanos had been fighting longer than Hulk had been alive and mastered his technique. That’s why Ebony Maw told Cull Obsidian to let Thanos have his fun. He knew Hulk posed no real threat, and the end result showed he was correct. This was the first time we saw Thanos fight, and he didn’t disappoint. Beating the Hulk set the tone for the rest of his story in the movie.
