Mind-swapped heroes take on the Jackal in Marvel Team-Up No. 3
By Alex Widen
Should Kamala Team with Hulk? Rogue? Daredevil? Anyone Else?
Perhaps this is a flaw of editors Shannon Andrews and Alanna Smith. With as random a concept as Marvel Team-Up and as green a heroine as Kamala is, the possibilities are endless for team-ups ,which haven’t happened in her various team or solo books yet. In addition, the change of the entire creative team by issue four encourages the impression that this title is unnecessary, which is exactly the wrong impression to hoist on fans who are already paying for loads of comics. Considering the sales, it would be better off having Kamala team up with Immortal Hulk with Al Ewing!

In the column for the first issue, this space questioned whether or not a new stab at Marvel Team-Up could make it or carve out a niche in today’s market. It was a simple concept which struggled for sales even during the Silver and Bronze Age. The last volume was literally written by the creator of The Walking Dead, who did his best to introduce subplots and new characters. It might be fun if Yesenia turned up as a new heroine with new powers. But so far ,this series has been a middle of the road affair with a generic plot and less than creative team ups, and that is a shame.
