MCU: Ranking each Marvel Phase 4 movie by anticipation
9. Captain Marvel 2
Release Date: Unknown
Fans clamored for a female-led Marvel film and they got one with the help of directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Captain Marvel became the most polarizing film in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Naturally, Carol Danver’s Phase Three introduction had fans anxiously eager to see Brie Larson as one of Marvel’s strongest heroes.
Unfortunately, the fandom surrounding a Captain Marvel sequel doesn’t have the same hype. Still, there’s a lot left to explore for Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. Her intergalactic adventures could see the MCU continue their space journey beyond Guardians of the Galaxy. With the 5-year time jump in Avengers: Endgame, there are several stories the MCU could explore.
As a matter of fact, the casting of Teyonah Parris in WandaVision provides hope of a team-up film. Another possibility is the inclusion of Ms. Marvel. According to Digital Spy, that is something Brie Larson wants.
"“My dream would be that Ms. Marvel gets to come into play in the sequel – that’s the goal,” Larson noted."
Introducing Ms. Marvel would excite fans no doubt. We know Ms. Marvel will get introduced at some point; why not in Captain Marvel‘s sequel? Had the news been official, Captain Marvel would have cracked the top five. Nevertheless, we can’t wait to get more details as the MCU looks to improve on their first film.
