Black Lightning season 3: What we know about the characters
By Mark Lynch
Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
You have to start with the guy the show is actually named after. Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning) has been through a lot, and things don’t seem to be letting up. First, he was put in an A.S.A. prison with his wife, Lynn, for “their own safety.” And B\before they get released, Agent Odell gives Jefferson a watch that forms a new and improved Black Lightning suit. Because Jefferson knows he’s being played, he has Gambi look into the watch and he finds a tracer on it. With everything else going on, he’s still butting heads with his daughter, Anissa (who will be discussed later), and having issues with Lynn, as well.
Jefferson’s life is a mess from top to bottom. He can’t fight the people he wants to without Agent Odell putting his family in prison. This isn’t going to last much longer. Eventually, Jefferson is going to have had enough and will let loose on the A.S.A. This may be the only way to get him and Black Bird on the same page. We got a glimpse of that in episode 4, although it was a short-lived team-up. Anissa is certainly still upset about how Jefferson treated Grace. We should also be concerned about what else that watch is doing. It could be monitoring his powers or finding a way to take them away. And then there’s his wife, Lynn.
