2. …does anyone want to get out?
Movie: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Captain America was on an elevator on his way out of the Triskelion. Nick Fury had been pronounced dead and he was lost. Before he died, Fury told Cap there was something funky going on in S.H.I.E.L.D. Cap didn’t know who he could trust.
While he was thinking, the elevator started to fill up. He noticed he was being surrounded and saw little signs like the sweat going down their necks. He was about to be attacked. Before they fought, Cap gave them a warning. They should have taken it. He proceeded to beat everyone in the elevator.
Why it ranks as one of the greatest fight scenes from this decade’s superhero movies
These weren’t some random guys Captain America defeated. These were highly trained S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents specifically selected to subdue Captain America. They had the element of surprise, the numbers advantage, and tech to capture him. None of that worked. Cap left them in the elevator unconscious with their pride wounded.
There wasn’t a lot of space to work with and this was still an amazing fight. We didn’t need funny one liners or any of the bells and whistles. This was just a flat-out fight. A short brawl without all the flair and it’s still better than 99% of the comic book movie fights scenes we’ve seen.
