What should we call the Arrowverse after Arrow ends?
The Flashverse
The obvious choice may very well be the show that feels like it’s been the heart of the Arrowverse for a few seasons now, The Flash. Barry and Team Flash brought a new side to the Arrowverse when it debuted on October 7th, 2014. It wasn’t a room full of brooding heroes anymore; there were more laughs and emotion. The Flash also introduced metahuman powers into the universe. And when Barry and Oliver appeared on each other’s shows, the Arrowverse was truly born.
Pro: Since its debut, The Flash has been the perfect counter to Arrow. Where there’s darkness, there’s light. Where there’s dread, there’s hope. As the seasons have gone on, and more shows have joined the mix, Barry has grown as a leader. He’s never been Oliver’s number two–they’ve always been equals. The Flash is also some of the glue that created the Arrowverse. Without this show, pre-crisis Earth-38 wouldn’t have ever connected to pre-crisis Earth-1.
Con: It’s a bit on the nose. More importantly, The Flash is in its sixth season. Arrow is exiting after its eighth. How much time do we really have left with Barry and Team Flash? Will it last longer than its predecessor? Could it last as long as Smallville? It’s very doubtful that it would reach a Supernatural run. Calling it the Flashverse would just lead to coming up with a new name in a few years.
