5 Arrowverse spoilers: The Flash divorce, Batwoman’s new hero, more Lex in Supergirl
2. Lex Luthor may not be defeated in Supergirl”s finale
Jon Cryer’s Lex Luthor has been nothing short of a revelation on Supergirl. The classic Superman villain made an impact during his three-episode debut in the fourth season, and he was so popular he ultimately returned in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover and had a huge part to play.
Since rewriting reality with the Book of Destiny so that he’d be seen as a savior instead of the villain that he is, he’s shared a common enemy with the Super Friends in Leviathan, but that hasn’t stopped him from attempting to manipulate his way into getting everything he wants.
While Lex is very much as conniving as he always was, it’s hard to see him as the Big Bad of the season given that Leviathan has been serving that role, but it looks like season 5 won’t be the last we see of him.
With Supergirl‘s finale just starting filming when production was shut down, we’ve all been wondering how the show’s writers will handle it. Well, according to Cryer, some rewrites had to be made – rewrites that involve his character. Speaking to PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing, he commented:
"“The Supergirl folks have talked to me because we couldn’t shoot our last episode. We had shot some of the last episode, and they’re gonna use some of that footage, but they’re writing a whole bunch of new stuff around it. Which is interesting because the way my character was thwarted now doesn’t happen anymore. So I was like, ‘Oh, did I not get defeated? Wait a minute, I like this!’ (laughing) Supervillains, we relish our chance to actually not be defeated every now and then.”"
Could we see Lex Luthor return once more in season 6? Let’s hope so!
