3 Arrowverse spoilers: The Flash finale shock, Lex takes over Supergirl, Legends never die
2. Lex’s new origins will be revealed on Supergirl
We all recently discovered that Lex Luthor may be sticking around for a little longer than expected following the conclusion of season 5, and as great as that is (because Jon Cryer is superb), we’re set to get another Lex-centric episode when Supergirl returns this week.
The upcoming episode, “Deus Lex Machina”, is directed by Supergirl herself Melissa Benoist and will spotlight Lex’s plans to defeat this season’s Big Bad, Leviathan, and how he intends to use the Girl of Steel and her team of Super Friends to do so.
Check out The CW’s official synopsis for the episode below:
"MELISSA BENOIST MAKES HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT — Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) proceeds to lay an intricate plan to bring Lena (Katie McGrath) closer to him, defeat Leviathan’s latest attack, and pit Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team against Leviathan. It is also revealed how Lex came into power after Crisis."
While it will be exciting to see Lex manipulate his way into another position of power, the most interesting thing about the synopsis is the suggestion that we might see how he managed to do it this time around.
Fans will know that he used the Book of Destiny and an apparent deal with The Monitor to ensure that he’d be better off following Crisis On Infinite Earths – and that’s exactly what happened as he was no longer deemed a criminal; being celebrated as a hero instead. However, the upcoming episode is going to give us all a chance to see how it all went down in this timeline.
Lex has a habit of overcoming adversity that he created, so this will no doubt prove to be a compelling watch.
