Paul Dano is playing The Riddler in The Batman, but he isn’t the first to do so. Let’s take a look back at the previous actors to bring Edward Nygma to life.
It’s safe to say that Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the most talked-about upcoming films at the moment. A Batman reboot for DC Films, it will star Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight himself, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. A star-studded line-up no doubt, but perhaps its most intriguing addition is Paul Dano – who will be portraying Edward Nashton/The Riddler.
The Riddler is undoubtedly one of the Caped Crusader’s most popular villains. Initially introduced in DC Comics all the way back in 1948, the puzzling menace has taken great pleasure in confounding and confusing Gotham City with his incredibly high level of intellect and his penchant for rambunctious riddles.
Thus, it’s safe to say that the eyes of the world will be watching to see how Dano’s version of Edward Nygma will turn out. The esteemed actor is no stranger to challenging roles and will undoubtedly pull off one heck of a performance, but he won’t be the first to bring The Riddler to our screens.
