1. Don’t stop hiring diverse creators

Unfortunately, this needs to be said, and it needs to be repeated. It’s one thing to give lip service to creating a diverse environment. It’s another thing to actually do it.

It has taken a while for Marvel to get to where they are at now. It took until Phase 3 of its cinematic universe for the studio to hire both directors of color and a female director. Their future slate does feature more female directors and female directors of color, but it was Warner Bros that actually beat them to the punch by hiring a female director (by movie three) with Wonder Woman.

Since then, they have hired James Wan for Aquaman and Cathy Yan for Birds of Prey. As for their future slate, they have also brought on Spanish and Hispanic creators as well.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is highly anticipated, but many hope the long-awaited release will close Snyder’s chapter of the DCEU. Warner Bros. must move on to new, diverse voices.

Snyder certainly deserves for his vision of Justice League to see the light of day, but that should be the end of his involvement in the universe. Many of the divisiveness that comes with the DCEU originates from his movies. It’s clear that Snyder’s vision does not fit with the audience’s needs like how the MCU has found the formula to success.

Even if we see change in The Snyder Cut, that should be the end. It would be a good ending for Snyder’s involvement in the DCEU. The Flash and The Snyder Cut can represent a bridge for Warner Bros. to move on from their past and move forward to a bright future.
