What alternate costumes could we see in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
When the first trailer for PlayStation’s Spider-Man dropped, people were ecstatic. Besides the gameplay, the big takeaway was the fact that it showed Miles Morales. He was an instant fan-favorite in the comics and, with his Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse coming out later in that year (2018), it was a smart move adding him to the game. It familiarized people with who he was.
While we knew he’d be in it, we didn’t know he’d get his powers so early and no one could have guessed that he’d get his own game so soon. However, here we are and Miles Morales: Spider-Man is set to drop on November 12th.
One of the things that made the first Spider-Man Playstation game so popular was the assortment of alternate costumes. It was nice to have more than a couple of options as you could be Spider-Punk, The Bombastic Bagman and it even had both Iron Spider-Man costumes (and so many more). These costumes also came with added bonuses as well. You got a boost in power, skills, and random advantages.
We’ve already seen that we’ll be able to use one of Miles’ costumes from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the pre-order suit in the upcoming Spider-Man: Miles Morales game, but there are other alternate costumes we could see. Here are nine that are a must.
Miles’ first (Ultimate Universe)
You never forget your first: Your first love, heartbreak, and the first time you find a hobby you enjoy. We can assume Miles wishes he could forget his first costume. Soon after Peter Parker died, Miles’ friend Ganke Lee brought over his old Spider-Man costume from a previous Halloween. It had knee and elbow pads and baggy gloves. People kept telling him it was in bad taste. After Miles’ first attempt at being Spider-Man, he even admitted it may have been.
It would be nice to see this costume for no other reason than it looked ridiculous. We normally get Peter’s Spider-Man in one or more of his first costumes. It would make sense that Insomniac Games would do the same for Miles.
Miles Morales: The End
Marvel Comics has a series of comic books called The End. They take characters and highlight their last missions. Sometimes it’s their retirements and others end in death. For Miles Morales, it was the latter. A sad ending, but he died saving people he loved.
It was decades in the future and Miles was the savior of Brooklyn and one of the last livable cities in New York. Miles was an old, white haired hero that was still protecting people. His costume was unlike any of his others. He still wore a black and red Spider-Man shirt, but he wore camouflage shorts and a black and red jacket. If this is in the game, it will be one of the more popular options. Even if he has the potbelly.
Yellow Cape
Funko Pops are the perfect gift for anyone. While they aren’t exclusive to comic books, they are a genre that may have started the trend. You can even get the figures in costumes that their respective characters haven’t worn in any continuity. It’s a fun idea. You get to see characters like you’ve never seen them before. This is one of those examples. Well, sort of.
This particular Funko Pop has Miles wearing the Peter Parker Spider-Man top, cargo shorts and the Spider-Man mask on his head with his face exposed. And, here’s the best part, he has a cape. In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles wanted to wear a yellow cape. Peter B. Parker ripped it off saying Spider-Man doesn’t wear a cape. Little did he know that this universe’s Spider-Man did have a costume with one. It would be nice to see Miles swinging through the game with his cape flapping in the wind.
Hood and shorts
This one is similar to the costume from The End. It may seem unnecessary to have them both, but allow this writer to explain why it works. Simply put, it looks cool. It’s just different enough that you’ll be able to tell the difference. The sneakers, red hoodie, and jacket will be enough to justify adding it with The End. Plus, it’s another nod to the movie.
Ultimatum
Until 2018, we didn’t know who the 616 Universe’s Miles Morales was. We found out in Spider-Men 1 that he existed. In Spider-Men 2 we found out that he was Wilson Fisk’s best friend and he was just as crooked as the Kingpin. Without him, Wilson may not have become the Kingpin at all. Eventually, the 616 Miles Morales left his home universe and ventured to the Ultimate Universe. Now, he’s back and going by Ultimatum.
Ultimatum’s costume is a combination of the Ultimate Universe’s Iron Man, Thor, Giant Man, and he even has Captain America’s shield on his back. This would be a fun twist to have in the game. Something that doesn’t have the Spider-Man emblem on it at all, but still has ties to Miles.
Street clothes with Peter Parker mask
At the end of the Black Cat story on PlayStation’s Spider-Man, we see Peter Parker finally teaching Miles to web swing. As expected, it doesn’t go well. Miles jumped and was immediately afraid. As he was learning, Miles was wearing a hoodie, jeans, sneakers, and a Spider-Man mask. This writer would be shocked if we didn’t get this costume – especially as a playable flashback. Having this helps fill the gaps within the year that Miles was still learning. Another entertaining option to have. If we can play as Peter in his under-roos, why shouldn’t we get fully clothed Miles?
Captain Universe
2018 was a big year for Miles. He made his video game debut in PlayStation’s Spider-Man, Into the Spider-Verse was a hit, and he played a big part in Spider-Geddon. Spider-Geddon was a Marvel Comics series where the Spider-Beings teamed up again to fight the Inheritors. Miles Morales received the powers of one of the strongest beings in the universe to help save the day. The Captain Universe suit is white and dark blue with the Captain Universe symbol on his chest. Despite the color being dark blue, it’s a bright costume. The powers that may come with this suit could make it the most powerful yet.
The Prowler (yellow and black)
Miles’ uncle, Aaron Davis, was killed in an issue of Miles’ first comic book run. He eventually joins Miles in the 616 Universe after Secret Wars (2015). Aaron Davis was still pulling off heists with a super suit. Except this time he wasn’t using the Prowler costume – he was wearing a version of the Iron Spidey costume. It had the extra arms like the original, but instead of it being red and gold, it was black and yellow. Miles may not have worn it, but it would still be a welcome alternative.
Something new
PlayStation’s Spider-Man had a few original costumes. We know that Miles will have one as well. It wouldn’t be shocking if there were more designs coming up. Whoever designed the original costumes in the Spider-Man game will do a great job again – something we’re especially confident about after seeing how gorgeous the pre-order Miles Morales suit looks. Here’s hoping we get more beautiful designs from this amazing creative team.
