Jensen Ackles to play Batman in jaw-dropping new film

Supernatural star Jensen Ackles will finally be bringing Batman to life in The Long Halloween.

Jensen Ackles has spent the last 15 years hunting evildoers in the form of demons on The CW’s long-running and beloved series Supernatural. The show came to an end just last year, with star Jared Padalecki moving onto The CW’s Walker reboot and Jensen Ackles heading to Amazon’s The Boys.

However, Ackles will be set to punish evildoers by playing another iconic role – a character that many have wanted him to portray for a long time.

We are, of course, talking about Batman himself.

Jensen Ackles leads an all-star voice cast in Batman: The Long Halloween

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jensen Ackles will voice the iconic superhero in the upcoming animated movie Batman: The Long Halloween. The DC Universe Animated Original Movie is based on the iconic graphic novel of the same name and has been in development for some time. The first part is expected to be released in the summer, with the second part hitting shelves sometime after that.

Ackles isn’t the only star in a major role. The late, great Naya Rivera voices Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Troy Baker voices The Joker (a character he has voiced many times before) Josh Duhamel voices Harvey Dent and Billy Burke voices Commissioner Jim Gordon. Furthermore, Titus Welliver is Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian is Calendar Man, Amy Landecker is Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson is Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid is Alberto, Fred Tatasciore is Solomon Grundy and Alastair Duncan is Alfred.

Fans of Ackles will know that he’s familiar with Batman’s world. He voiced the character of Jason Todd in the 2010 animated movie Batman: Under The Red Hood and famously dressed up as The Dark Knight for Halloween in 2019. He also dressed up as Red Hood the year before. He has also been at the top of many fan-castings to play either role for many years.

Batman: The Long Halloween is considered one of the titular hero’s greatest comic book stories of all time and fans are incredibly excited to see it make its way to the screen in the upcoming animated movie. The fact that Ackles is finally getting the chance to play the character is just the icing on the cake.
