Best comic book movie moments: 80. Superman throws his symbol
Comic book movie: Superman II
Christopher Reeves Superman is a classic. It helped, if not flat out paved the way for comic book movies. It wasn’t as campy as Adam West’s Batman, but it didn’t take itself too seriously either. There was one moment that still befuddles viewers to this day. The infamous throwing of his emblem in Superman II.
Sure, it made absolutely no sense and only held General Zod’s goon for a few seconds. You can definitely call this a ridiculous moment. Nonetheless, it served its purpose. It disoriented him. It made it look like Superman didn’t take them seriously. It obviously made them angry. This isn’t something you’d see in a Zach Snyder Superman, but it was perfect for this movie and era.
Best comic book movie moments: 79. Riddler destroys the Batcave
Comic book movie: Batman Forever
Say whatever you want about Batman Forever, but you can’t deny how good Jim Carry was. He may not have been the dark Riddler we wanted, but he took the role and made it unforgettable. Among those moments was him destroying the Batcave. He put on a performance like no one was watching. The best part may have been the weird walk, dropping the bombs, and then thrusting in the air as the explosion occurred. Immediately going into throwing the bomb like a baseball was done smoothly as well.
