The Suicide Squad: 4 reasons you should be excited for the DCEU movie
By Mark Lynch
Go see The Suicide Squad
Here’s a long story made short; go see The Suicide Squad. It’s not going to be like any other DC Comics movie in recent memory. If fans want DC Comics to move past the idea of overly dark movies with little intentional comedy, it starts by supporting this movie. That’s not to say go watch it just because. The proof has been in the promotion. The trailers look amazing. Granted, they can be deceiving (see: 2016’s Suicide Squad). In this case, this writer doesn’t believe it is. It feels like this is going to be the beginning of something special.
It’s great that the Margot Robbie taking a break from being Harley Quinn theory was debunked. The actress recently told Entertainment Weekly, “I did Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad back-to-back, so that was a lot of Harley all in a one year period, but that was a while ago now. I’m always ready for more Harley!” With that in mind, it’s going to be great to see her shine in The Suicide Squad, which will hopefully lead to her return in another DC movie very soon.
Lastly, this is going to be fun. This writer fully expects The Suicide Squad to be DC Comics’ answer to Guardians of the Galaxy. Except it’ll be for adults. They aren’t going to move toys to kids, but the adults will undoubtedly buy the merchandise.
Remember you heard it here first. After this movie succeeds, Marvel Studios will adjust and start making rated R projects other than Deadpool.
