The Suicide Squad: The five best characters from the movie
By Mark Lynch
1. Harley Quinn
Margot Robbie showed once again that she’s one of the best to adapt a comic book role. She epitomizes everything that we know from Harley Quinn in the comics. Plus, she continued her evolution from Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. When she killed Presidente General Silvio Luna, we knew definitively that she would never be an abused woman again.
Harley is the draw to The Suicide Squad. She’s one of the most recognizable faces in pop culture. Because of this, DC Comics couldn’t afford to mess this up. It could have fans lose what little faith they already had in DC Comics movies. Thankfully, Margot Robbie knocked it out of the park. She didn’t have a huge role this time around, but she made the most of it. That’s what counts.
1. Bloodsport
This writer is on record saying that Idris Elba can do anything. He continued to prove that point here. In a lot of ways, Bloodsport was the star of the movie. He was certainly the focal point. He was very much like Deadshot in the first Suicide Squad movie. The difference is Deadshot was happy to see his daughter. While Bloodsport didn’t want to acknowledge he had one. That was until her freedom was threatened.
Watching Bloodsport shoot and kill was amazing to see, but that’s not what puts him high on this list. Watching him interact with his Task Force X was the deciding factor. Petting Sebastian in the end, thinking Amanda Waller was messing with him when she recruited Peacemaker, and him being a leader when he didn’t want to all put him high on this list. These are only a few examples. He was near flawless from start to finish.
