The season finale of Marvel Studios’ What If…? left viewers with more questions than we went in with. Here are 5 burning questions we need answers to after the final episode.

All good things must come to an end. In this case, this writer is talking about Marvel Studios’ What If…? A Disney Plus show that delivered on the title. We saw realities that have made us smile, laugh, and cry. The season finale was more of the same.

The Watcher took the greatest heroes he could find to bring down Ultron. Party Thor, Demon Doctor Strange, Captain Carter, T’Challa the Star-Lord, Killmonger the Black Panther, and the Thanos-killing Gamora were all brought together for a seemingly impossible mission. But they succeeded.

Despite the win, Uatu interfered. Will there be repercussions to his actions? That’s only one of the many questions that need to be answered.

5. What if…? the Guardians battled the Avengers

We’ve seen a lot of teams brought together at the last minute. The Guardians of the Multiverse aren’t the first and they won’t be the last. However, they were particularly good. Their teamwork and chemistry is something to be admired. Captain Carter took the lead and everyone followed her orders.

They were good, but are they good enough to beat the Avengers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? There are a lot of factors that could give either side the victory. Maybe one day we’ll get an answer.

4. Does Party Thor take anything serious?

Party Thor was a god with one goal in life: He wanted to have fun. It’s funny that the only reason this happened was because he wasn’t raised with Loki. Otherwise, he’d be more serious. When Uatu brought Party Thor onto the team, you’d assume Thor would take things more seriously. Well, you know what happens when you assume.

Party Thor did show that he was as good as you’d think. He was a battle-ready God of Asgard who’s worthy of his title. Nonetheless, he still joked and messed around more than he should have. His battle cry, “Viva Las Vegas” while attacking Ultron was reckless. Thankfully, none of the heroes died because he attacked prematurely.

3. What if…? Captain Carter met Captain America

Peggy Carter became Captain Carter in her reality because Steve Rogers never received the Super Soldier Serum and became Captain America. Regardless of their stories’ differences in this timeline, they still fell in love with each other. It was great seeing Steve not having any resentment towards her for taking his place. It would have been unlike him.

Doctor Strange tells Peggy that Steve Rogers is Captain America in his former universe. She seemed to be intrigued by that. It made this writer wonder what the two of them would have been like if they met. Not romantically but as protectors of their world. Their combined heroism and need to help could be enough to bring peace everywhere they went.

2. What if…? Killmonger

No one should be shocked that Killmonger tried to obtain the Infinity Stones. His entire purpose is to change things for what he feels is right. He started planning as soon as he saw the Ultron Sentry’s head. When he heard about the stones, he saw a much bigger picture. In the end, he almost accomplished his mission as he got the Infinity Stones and placed them in an armor he created.

What if Killmonger had left with the Infinity Stones? He’s smart and calculated enough to not make the same mistake Ultron did. He wouldn’t have been noisy so he might have succeeded and no one would have noticed until it was too late. Actually, he may have changed the world and no one would have figured it out at all. He doesn’t need the recognition. Killmonger only cares about results.

1. What If…? Doctor Strange

Uatu left Demon Doctor Strange in his reality with a pocket dimension that holds Killmonger and Arnim Zola. Strange has been charged with making certain that the reality doesn’t crack. If it does, things will get bad. This is leaving Strange with a big responsibility and even more temptation.

When Strange said, “What are friends for?” he smiled. It wasn’t a necessarily smile that meant happiness. This might have even seemed sinister. And why wouldn’t it be? Doctor Strange Supreme now has an opportunity to change things for himself. Will he find a way to take the Infinity Stones and change his world? Will he be the next big villain in the next season?
