These five WandaVision moments show why it has one of the best Fandoms in the world.
FanSided has released the Fandoms of the Year 2021 list. It wasn’t shocking to see WandaVision and its fans make the list. It was the perfect show to kick off the Disney Plus’ Marvel Studios shows and the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t looked back since.
Before the show began, people didn’t know what to expect. It seemed like it was going to be a goofy, light-hearted 1960s sitcom. Towards the end of episode 1, we saw how wrong we were. WandaVision became a trippy and complex show about dealing with trauma, all while making its viewers (and its protagonist) solve a head-scratching mystery. Among all the magic and emotional scenes came a lot of memorable moments. These are the top five.
Honorable mention: Each episode’s innovative opening sequences.
5. Quicksilver appears in WandaVision
There aren’t many times where the audience is genuinely surprised in a Marvel Studios project. Normally, we can see who characters are with a quick google search and with plenty of rumors around each and every project, genuinely jaw-dropping moments are hard to come by.
While we knew Evan Peters was set to appear in WandaVision, we didn’t think he’d actually be bringing back Quicksilver from the Fox X-Men franchise. When he popped up at Wanda’s door, everyone was shocked that he was standing there. Unfortunately, we were both right and wrong.
Peters was really playing an actor named Ralph Bohner. Finding out that he wasn’t the real deal didn’t make fans happy. Peters’ version of Quicksilver was one of the few shining moments during the 20th Century Fox X-Men film series. Bringing him in as the new Pietro Maximoff would have been perfect. As divisive as the reveal was, his initial appearance made for a memorable moment.

4. Monica Rambeau gets powers
Every Marvel Comics fan knew this was coming. Monica Rambeau wouldn’t go the entire series without getting her powers, especially with The Marvels on its way. All fans wanted was for the reveal of her abilities to look cool. There was no disappointment of the reveal or the look. Most of that can be attributed to Teyonah Parris.
Parris made each moment work. When Monica was shot, there was a mixture of anger and shock. An emotion anyone would be feeling at the time. This was the right way to get her momentum going into the next phase of her story.
When she first obtained her powers when breaking through the barrier, her eyes glowed a bright blue. Later, when she was getting shot, they were yellow. This let Marvel Comics fans know that we’d be getting a comic-accurate depiction of Monica. Her powers are vast, so the looks should be as well. Something that has to be noted.
3. The Scarlet Witch revealed
Anyone who knew Wanda Maximoff from the comics was waiting for this moment. All of her teammates usually called her Wanda all of the time. She was the Scarlet Witch in the field, but it was a name that was never used. That didn’t mean fans were eager to see her become the Scarlet Witch on the show.
When she overpowered Agatha in WandaVision, her clothing slowly changed. When the magic and energy cleared up, it was official: Wanda Maximoff had become the Scarlet Witch.
The reveal was only part of what made the Scarlet Witch’s debut great. Agatha mentioned that the Scarlet Witch is more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme. We might even see her and Doctor Strange battle in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and that’s very exciting. Which leads to the next moment…
2. Scarlet Witch reading the Darkhold
The post-credits scene of WandaVision started with Wanda sitting outside of a cabin. For the first time in decades, she seemed at peace. That wasn’t the case. Inside of the cabin, the Scarlet Witch was studying the Darkhold. She was in a trance-like state and seemed pretty close to being, well, evil.
The biggest takeaway here is that Agatha told Wanda that the Darkhold can show her how to alter reality – something that causes Wanda to lose control of her powers and her mind in Marvel Comics (see Avengers: Disassembled and House of M for more on that). If she loses control in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’ll more than likely become the most dangerous person in the universe.
1. Agatha All Along
There was no way this couldn’t be the number one moment. The reveal was obvious. Agatha Harkness wasn’t going to be just the kooky neighbor. As incredible as Kathryn Hahn was in the role, that would have been a waste of the rich character. Finding out that the fan theories were true and that she was pulling the strings all along was cool, but the the best part was undoubtedly that unforgettable song.
“Agatha All Along” wasn’t just a fun and catchy song. It won an Emmy Award and has now been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. That’s how impressive the music was. But it also helped add to the story it was telling, with the sequence showcasing all of the moments where Agatha was pulling the strings.
However, killing Sparky was cruel!
