Over the years, Jude Law has appeared in many film franchises. From Sherlock Holmes to Fantastic Beasts, the movie star is no stranger to blockbusters with built-in fandoms, which made his transition into Marvel territory an obvious and welcome addition.
In 2019, Law co-starred in the billion-dollar hit Captain Marvel alongside Brie Larson. He played Yon-Rogg, the commander of Starforce and the mentor of Larson’s Carol Danvers, but ultimately the main antagonist for our leading hero. Law steps into the role of a much more likable romantic lead in the 2006 Christmastime standby The Holiday.
From lauded director Nancy Meyers, The Holiday stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet as Amanda and Iris, a pair of women experiencing tough times in love right around the holiday season. They meet online while looking to swap houses for the winter, with Iris escaping to Amanda’s Hollywood mansion and Amanda hiding away in Iris’s English cottage.
As she learns to drive on the wrong side of the road, Amanda falls for Iris’s brother, Graham (Law), while Iris, too, finds a renewed sense of self and a new chance at love in LA. The Holiday feels like a warm, cozy hug, which you might not get from Jude Law’s Captain Marvel character.
