It’s always exciting when a legend of the big screen brings their talent and star power to a massive film franchise. Kurt Russell, one of the many actors who truly epitomizes the term “movie star,” made his first (and so far only) appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Ego the Living Planet.
His next role right after making his MCU debut? Santa Claus in Netflix’s successful holiday film franchise The Christmas Chronicles. Truly, few actors can pull off playing Santa Claus, but Kurt Russell has the lovable quality of the most famous fictional man in the world.
The Christmas Chronicles centers on siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), who think up a plan to capture Santa Claus on Christmas. Of course, their scheme hits a snag and they wind up responsible for losing all the Christmas gifts, forcing them to team up with Santa and his elves to save Christmas before the holiday passes without presents.
Naturally, the Christmas comedy was a winner with families and spawned a sequel arriving on Netflix in time for the 2020 holiday season. Kurt Russell’s turn as Santa Claus in The Christmas Chronicles just might be the most magical of all the Marvel stars in holiday movies.
