It’s unimaginable that anyone could love Paul Rudd more. Between memorable recurring roles on adored shows like Friends and Parks and Recreation and blockbuster comedies on the big screen like Knocked Up and I Love You, Man, he’s won us over time and time again. But then he went ahead and joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ant-Man and gave the world even more reasons to find him charming.
The only way Paul Rudd could secure himself an even bigger place in our hearts is if he starred in a holiday movie we could watch over and over each year. Oh, wait… he has, and it’s called All Is Bright.
Rudd stars opposite Paul Giamatti in All Is Bright as Rene, who joins a plan devised by his old friend and recent parolee Dennis (Giamatti) to get rich quick selling Christmas trees in New York City. Dennis seeks to make enough money from the scheme to purchase a piano for his estranged daughter.
The film, which holds a middling score of 49% on Rotten Tomatoes, was a low-budget independent release that you might have missed in theaters. While most holiday movies are full of cheer and spirit and all things nice, All Is Bright offers a bit of a darker dramedy tale with expectedly great performances from its leading Pauls.
