John Krasinski has always been a fan-favorite choice for Reed Richards in the MCU’s much-anticipated Fantastic Four film and it’s easy to see why.

It’s an exciting time for Fantastic Four fans, because the foursome of superheroes are on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The announcement was made at Disney Investor Day 2020, with Jon Watts initially expected to direct. However, after Watts stepped down, it was just recently confirmed at this year’s D23 Fan Expo that WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman would helm the film instead. And after the revelation at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that F4 would be the first film of Phase 6, excitement is at an all-time high.

Marvel Studios will seek to make the iconic foursome’s upcoming MCU movie their best silver screen adventure yet. In doing so, they will aim to prove that the characters can be involved in a truly great cinematic adventure.

But fans have been theorizing about the arrival of the Fantastic Four for a long time now, with many wondering who would play the legendary Marvel team in the MCU.

As far as Mr. Fantastic himself goes, the frontrunner has always been John Krasinski. Those rumors have intensified after the star made a cameo appearance as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earlier this year. While those F4 rumors have yet to be confirmed, here’s a bit of an idea as to what he might look like in the role.

What John Krasinski might look like as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four

Digital artist death.streak_art took to Instagram back in January 2021 to share some of their amazing work, featuring John Krasinski suited up as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. An incredible piece, it showcases the actor sporting a greying beard and the Fantastic Four’s iconic uniform. See it below.

The character of Reed Richards was previously portrayed by Ioan Gruffudd in Fantastic Four in 2005 and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer, while Miles Teller played the hero in the critically-reviled 2015 reboot. Krasinski then played the role in a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange 2. But will Krasinski be the one to take on the part in the MCU full-time?

Is John Krasinski playing Reed Richards in the MCU’s Fantastic Four?

While it was awesome to see Krasinski play the role in Doctor Strange 2, it currently remains unknown if he will reprise it in the Fantastic Four movie, or if Marvel will start with a clean slate. The actor has long been the fan-favorite to take on the role while his wife, the Golden Globe-winning Emily Blunt, has been at the top of countless fan-castings for the role of Sue Storm.

We don’t yet know which direction Marvel Studios will go in but it does go without saying that fans would love to see Krasinski portray Mister Fantastic in the MCU.

We’ll have to wait and see who Marvel casts. But if we’ve learned anything from the above artwork, it’s that Krasinski would definitely be an impeccable choice.

Fantastic Four will be released on November 8, 2024.
