Tombstone tricks Spider-Man
Comic book: Amazing Spider-Man No. 4
Zeb Wells’ Amazing Spider-Man continues with Peter Parker and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Life. In the previous two issues, Spider-Man has been tricked, kidnapped, and brutally beaten. In the newest issue, it looked like he was finally getting some payback. Someone freed him from his shackles right in time to stop Tombstone’s men from killing “The Rose” Richards Fisk. However, Spider-Man wasn’t fighting Tombstone’s goons. He was fighting Fisk’s men the entire time. Spider-Man did Tombstone’s job for him.
Why is this important?
When a comic book company says, “This is the worst time for hero XYZ” it’s usually hyperbole. This isn’t one of those times. This comic run has taken Spider-Man and Peter Parker and made their lives Hell. Spidey has alienated himself from most of the superhero community. Not even the Fantastic Four want anything to do with him. Meanwhile, Peter’s Aunt doesn’t trust him, MJ won’t speak to him and, to top it all off, he was tricked into beating up a bunch of goons.
Knowing Peter, he’s going to swing to Tombstone’s house to beat him up only to ruin a cherished moment – something that’s going to hurt him as Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
