The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne will not air on AMC in 2023.

Rick Grimes and Michonne are about to make their long-awaited return to TV screens in one of the three upcoming new spinoff shows set in The Walking Dead Universe. However, that return has been delayed for a little longer.

After the conclusion of The Walking Dead confirmed that both former main characters are still alive and well, the stage was well and truly set for the upcoming spin-off series that will see Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reprise their roles. The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne was initially planned for release in the second half of this year, but that is no longer the case.

Upon announcing new release windows for The Walking Dead: Dead City, Daryl Dixon and veteran series Fear The Walking Dead (which will now end with season 8), the network confirmed that the Rick and Michonne series would not release in 2023.

The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne series release date predictions

The Walking Dead‘s Rick and Michonne spinoff series will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2024, with the early part of the year being the most likely possibility.

A trailer shown on AMC+ after the series finale of The Walking Dead announced that all of the new spinoffs would premiere in 2023, but that is no longer the case due to this one’s delay.

As for why it was delayed from its initial 2023 release window, that’s likely down to the fact that there are multiple TWD shows coming this year (and the first one doesn’t air until May). With the debuts of the two new shows and Fear‘s conclusion all to think about, it probably made most sense to push Rick and Michonne to 2024 – especially as it is the only one yet to commence production.
