9. Quentin Lance
Quentin Lance was one of Arrow‘s last remaining original characters when death came calling for him in Season 6.
The father of Laurel and Sara Lance, he had seen more than his fair share of heartbreak over his six years on the show (and more than anybody else in the Arrowverse), as the writers really made him suffer – as he had to experience the death of Sara twice. But with Sara back in his life, those writers then pulled another cruel twist by killing off Laurel instead – and inexplicably insisting that, this time, it was permanent. As a result, Quentin felt a little lost without his daughters around in the fifth season.
But alas, he lived like a father, so it was only fitting that he die like one too as he was fatally shot at the end of Season 6 while protecting the formerly evil Earth-2 version of Laurel (Black Siren) from Ricardo Diaz.
Arrow‘s moral compass, he was a father to everyone in a way – and that made his hospital bed speech to Oliver all the more emotional. And when the doctor delivered the heartbreaking news, every familiar face in that building – new and old – was masked in anguish. And that was exactly what all of our faces looked like as we watched at home.
