5. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

  • Release Year: 2011
  • Director: Bill Condon
  • Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Sarah Clarke, Anna Kendrick, Ty Olsson, Michael Welch, Christian Serratos, Justin Chon, Michael Sheen, and more

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the fourth movie of the Twilight franchise. It’s also based on the fourth book of the same name by Stephanie Meyer. The final book was split into two parts, Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2. The first part premiered in theaters in 2011.

It was such a mistake, in my opinion, to split this book into two parts. Yes, it allows the creative team to take their time and develop the story, but I’d argue that pretty much everything that happens in Breaking Dawn Part 1 could have happened in about 20 minutes. Yeah, it’s not great.

There’s no doubt Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the worst of the Twilight movies. It’s not unwatchable or anything like that. Some people might like it, but it based on what happened in Eclipse and what has the potential to happen in Breaking Dawn Part 2, the first part just doesn’t live up to the hype.

The movie continues Bella and Edward’s story. They get married, and Bella gets pregnant, and then the baby starts growing rapidly while the Cullens try to keep it a secret. Bella gives birth to Renesmee, but she is dying. Edward decides at the moment to make her a vampire.

Obviously, this is a necessary part of the story, but it’s just a bit boring to me.

Up next is New Moon, the second movie of the Twilight franchise.
