3. Stargate: Continuum (2008)

In 2008, the Stargate universe extended its reach with Stargate: Continuum, a direct-to-DVD sequel to the hit TV series Stargate SG-1. The movie takes us into the realm of time travel, telling a tale that entangles the Goa’uld, an aquatic species of symbiotes from the planet P3X-888, in its threads.

While the movie’s ambition is evident and its plot point was interesting, it did have its fair share of disappointments and challenges. Despite this, Stargate: Continuum remains a treat for us devoted fans, offering an engaging adventure that goes into the mythology we’ve come to cherish.

Continuum follows the pattern of its predecessors by immersing audiences in the complexity of the Stargate lore. The allure of time travel, paired with the scheming of the conquering race that are the Goa’uld, promises a good and engaging story. However, as the adventure unfolds, some scenes bear obvious the mark of budgetary limitations, interfering with the visual spectacle that fans have come to associate with the franchise. Adding to that annoyance, a few instances of uneven pacing momentarily disrupt the movie’s momentum.

But, for ardent followers of the Stargate SG-1 series, Continuum remains a welcomed continuation of their journey.
