3. Rogue
It was so sad, what happened to Rogue. Sure, the idea of her, of all mutants, wanting the cure, made sense. But was it really that hard to write her as a Southern belle with a heart of gold and slick as oil? Even if they went with a younger version, which they did, why not tap into the tortured aspect of her life? Her time is used by Mystique and Destiny to do some bad stuff. Oh yeah, because the comics didn’t matter.
Instead of Rogue, they could have used any other mutant, and the story would have been the same. Still, they thought we wouldn’t notice what they did. That comic book fans wouldn’t roll their eyes at the misuse of a mutant we all love.
I’ll give them credit, Fox did use Rogue as a plot point when it came to a battle between the Brotherhood and the X-Men, but after that, nothing else mattered. Poor Anna Paquin, the talented actress who could have pulled off any version of Rogue they wanted. Unfortunately, she was given a lackluster role.
In the MCU, Rogue has a chance to shine, especially with Captain Marvel. It’s time we see her take the powers of Captain Marvel and become one of the baddest women in the MCU.
