12 most polarizing DC characters ranked
1. Superman
Yes, we all know, Superman is the ultimate beacon of hope, the guy who can fly in and save the day. With his all-American charm and that iconic S-curl, he’s a symbol of unwavering morality and a reminder that even the most powerful can be kind. What tops it off is his humble origin, being raised on a farm by two great parents, and depending on which comics, a dog. Superman always does the right thing. He doesn’t kill—unless he’s in the Snyderverse (joking). And he wears underwear without looking ridiculous.
If we’re being honest, the dude is… dull. Yeah, there are no superheroes more dull than the early days of Cyclops and the Man of Steel. Here’s the thing: this dude is way too OP. If a foe doesn’t have Kryptonite, good luck. We’ve seen what the Man of Tomorrow can do if he becomes manic. With “Red Son,” we saw exactly what happens if he became the dictator leader people like Lex Luthor feared.
DC has made it their business over the years to show just how strong this guy is. Check this out: in Superman No. 13 (2013) from the New 52 storyline, Superman was bench-pressing the weight of the Earth for five days straight. C’mon, this was insane.
Oh, if you wanna blame the New 52, stop it. During the Silver Age, Supes once moved the sun in “Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #33.” He’s also held a black hole, punched a hole in space and time, and performed so many other OP feats. It’s no wonder why people on social media argue he can defeat anyone. And it’s why he holds the top spot on the list.
