Loki season 2 is finally here. Reacquaint yourself with the returning cast members and get to know the new ones with our cast and character guide.

Are you ready for some mischief? I know I am! It’s been over two years since Marvel Studios’ Loki made its unforgettable presence felt on Disney Plus. The series, which is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, brought back Tom Hiddleston’s nefarious trickster, giving us a very different kind of adventure from anything Loki had ever been involved in before.

The God of Mischief was assigned a new Glorious Purpose when he encountered the Time Variance Authority, who needed his help taking down another Loki. Little did he know he would begin to fall for that other Loki variant. She was named Sylvie and she wanted to show the falsehood behind the TVA and their apparent Time Keepers.

The gang are back together for another outing, making Loki the first of the live-action MCU shows to return for a second season. We’re all expecting it to be one of the most important chapters in both Phase Five and in the whole Multiverse Saga, particularly because the first season set much of the saga in motion. And we already know that Kang the Conqueror’s presence will be felt this season.

If you’re ready for more multiverse madness in Loki season 2, let’s take this opportunity to get reacquainted with the returning cast and characters (and get to know some of the new ones, too).

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Let’s kick things off with the man of the moment; the MCU’s illustrious trickster himself. Tom Hiddleston reprises his title role Loki, returning in a leading capacity to play the character in his seventh performance as the God of Mischief.

When we last saw The Trickster, he was unsuccessfully attempting to stop Sylvie from killing He Who Remains. The fallout of that brought him back to the TVA and his friend Mobius, who no longer recognized him, and now the pair are going to have to figure out a way to find Sylvie and repair the timeline before Kang the Conqueror’s reign reaches unbeatable heights (if it hasn’t already!).

Hiddleston is, of course, best known for playing Loki, originating the role in Thor before going on to appear in The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Loki season 1. An esteemed actor of both the stage and screen, he has also starred in BBC’s The Hollow Crown film series, The Night Manager, and Kong: Skull Island. In 2020, he earned a Tony Awards nomination for his performance in Broadway debut Betrayal.

He’s one of the fan-favorite actors in the MCU and certainly made the role of Loki his own. We can’t wait to see him let loose in Loki season 2 all over again.

Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius

Owen Wilson returns to screens as beloved TVA Agent Mobius M. Mobius in Loki season 2. The character became an instant fan-favorite in season 1 when he put his career on the line to get Loki to help the TVA take down and capture his variant. He then began to bond with the Trickster, who eventually helped him to see that the TVA was built on a lie.

The second season will put the chaotic duo back together again, as Mobius attempts to help Loki with his time-slipping. However, he will also have to try and remember the God of Mischief and all of the antics they got up to in the first season (as the season 1 finale completely changed the timeline).

Owen Wilson is a veteran of the big screen, having starred in Shanghai Noon, Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch, Wedding Crashers, and Marley and Me. He’s become a regular of comedy movies over the past two decades and recently starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in Marry Me. His role as Mobius in Loki season 1 is his first Marvel Studios project but he did reprise the role in a post-credit scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (which is actually footage from Loki season 2).

He plays Mobius with such charm, warmth, and humor, and audiences are so excited to see him  return (and no doubt bicker with Tom Hiddleston’s Trickster) all over again.

Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie

Sophia Di Martino returns to cause some mischief of her own as Loki variant Sylvie. The character who seemed like she was the initial big bad of the show’s first season, Sylvie was the variant that the TVA needed Loki’s help tracking. However, the pair’s constant run-ins with one another eventually resulted in them bonding (and perhaps even falling for each other) as they decided to find out the truth about what was at the end of time.

Sylvie’s actions will no doubt have consequences as the timeline has been changed beyond recognition. I can say without hesitation that I’m so excited to see how Loki and Mobius eventually track her down this season and if the three will be able to work together to either undo the damage or deal with the fallout.

Di Martino’s role as Sylvie was her big US breakthrough but she’s been a regular on UK television for over a decade, with appearances on long-running dramas Holby City, Doctors, and Midsomer Murders as well as a main role in short-lived soap opera The Royal Today. Her most significant role was as ambulance technician Polly Emmerson in iconic long-running medical drama Casualty, which she played from 2009 until 2011. She also had a main role in Channel 4 sitcom Flowers alongside Olivia Colman.

She’s a gem as Sylvie and I can’t wait to see what antics the character gets up to in Loki season 2.

Ke Huy Quan, Loki season 2 cast

Ke Huy Quan as Ouroboros (O.B.)

One of the multiple new characters we will meet in Loki season 2 is Ouroboros, a.k.a. O.B. In fact, we already met him in the first full-length trailer for the season, as Mobius and Loki go to him for help with the latter’s time-slipping, which apparently isn’t a thing in the TVA.

O.B. is the TVA’s repair guy, if you will, the man with all the knowledge on the inner workings of the Time Variance Authority, and who should have solutions to most of those problems. As we learned in the trailer, time-slipping isn’t something the quirky character will have a solution for.

He is played by the legendary Ke Huy Quan, who recently returned to acting after a 19-year hiatus and made a huge impact on audiences with his incredible performance in the critically-acclaimed Everything Everywhere All At Once – a performance that won him an Oscar earlier this year.

Originally known for his roles as a child actor in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies, he worked as a stunt choreographer and director during his two-decade hiatus. His comeback is among the greatest that Hollywood has ever seen and now he gets to add a role in the MCU to his ever-growing repertoire. We can’t wait to see him in action as O.B.

Loki season 2 cast, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Renslayer

Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer

Even with the character’s apparent departure in the Loki season 1 finale, Gugu Mbatha-Raw is back as Judge Ravonna Renslayer. A figurehead of the TVA, fans were pretty suspicious of her early on because of her refusal to ask questions about the organization (and how she overlooked all of Mobius’ concerns too). Those suspicions turned out to be correct when Ravonna proved herself to be a villainous character, pruning Loki and attempting to do the same to Sylvie.

It’s unclear how she’ll factor into season 2 at this point. Even though the timeline has been reset, it would be a little odd for the show to ignore her departure in the finale, so we’re getting the sense that she won’t be the TVA’s judge this time around. This could also point to her involvement in the larger overall mystery surrounding the timeline and who – if anyone – is truly pulling the stings here.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw is a star of both the stage and screen, with theater roles in plays such as Romeo and Juliet and Anthony and Cleopatra to her name, as well as the West End and Broadway productions of Hamlet as Ophelia. Prior to Loki, she broke onto the US TV scene with an acclaimed performance in Black Mirror‘s Emmy-winning episode “San Junipero”, before going on to appear in movies such as A Wrinkle In Time and Beauty and the Beast. You can currently see her in Apple TV+’s series Surface, in which she plays the main role.

Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15

When we last saw Hunter B-15, she had figured out the truth about the Time Variance Authority, and how it stole her life from her to turn her into one of its many loyal warriors. Sylvie was the one who helped her see the truth, so she helped Sylvie and Loki escape the TVA and make their way to the end of time. Though she was imprisoned for her actions by Judge Ravonna Renslayer, Mobius’ return and the subsequent reset that the timeline underwent has likely changed that history.

We’re not entirely sure how she’ll play into season 2, but we do know that she won’t remember Loki and she will be working to reform the TVA. So her uprising in season 1 has either been erased or forgiven, but it’s going to be interesting to see just how much of the original timeline remains intact. What does she remember if she doesn’t remember Loki?

Wunmi Mosaku has been a regular presence on British TV, appearing in the likes of Vera, Fearless, The End of the F***ing World, Kiri and Luther. Her performance in Damilola, Our Loved Boy in 2016 earned her a BAFTA Award. She subsequently garnered US attention for her role as Ruby Baptiste in Lovecraft Country before she went on to star in Loki. As well as the latter’s second season, you can see her in the 2022 miniseries We Own This City, and she just recently appeared in her second episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror.

Mosaku has such a commanding presence on-screen with a history of playing detectives or officers, so it goes without saying she’s a natural as Hunter B-15 in Loki. We’re ready to see where her story goes next.

Jonathan Majors as Victor Timely (Kang The Conqueror variant)

Jonathan Majors made his first appearance in the MCU in the season 1 finale of Loki playing a character named He Who Remains. The man at the end of time, he explained that he was a variant of Kang the Conqueror who was the only thing preventing the more dangerous versions of himself from breaking through into the main timeline. His death at the hands of Sylvie has upset the status quo and changed things for the worse.

Majors officially played Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as the villain attempted to break out of the Quantum Realm. He also played countless of variants of Kang in that movie’s mid-credits scene, while also debuting as Victor Timely in the post-credit scene (which appears to be a scene taken directly from Loki season 2).

It’s not yet clear how Victor Timely will play into Loki‘s second season but the look on the God of Mischief’s face makes it clear that he’s not a character to be trifled with. Is he every bit as bad as his Ant-Man variant?

Majors’ performance in Quantumania earlier this year received acclaim, but that wasn’t his only high-profile role this year, as he also played Dame Anderson in Creed III. He has been acting since 2017 but it was his performance in 2020’s Lovecraft Country that garnered him widespread recognition. He is now set to become a regular presence in the MCU as different variants of Kang, who is expected to be the next big bad of the MCU.

Tara Strong as Miss Minutes

Miss Minutes became an instant sensation whenever she first slid her way onto screen in Loki‘s very first episode. The clock figure possessed knowledge about the TVA, the apparent Time Keepers and Variants, but it soon became clear that she wasn’t quite as friendly as she was pretending to be. At the very least, she was hiding something, and that made it hard to trust her.

No doubt audiences are excited to see what she gets up to in season 2, and it could hold the key to Kang the Conqueror’s presence and/or how to fix the timeline. The question is: Will she remember how things originally played out now that the timeline has been reset.

Tara Strong voices the character and there is a pretty high chance that this is not the first time you’ve heard her in action. Strong is a veteran voice actor, with countless credits to her name, including Batgirl in The New Batman Adventures, Bubbles in The Powerpuff Girls, Timmy Turner in The Fairly Oddparents, Raven in Teen Titans,  and Teen Titans Go!, and Harley Quinn in video games Batman: Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight.

She is set to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in upcoming video game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and her role as Miss Minutes in Deadpool 3 in 2024.

New cast members in Loki season 2

Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E

Eugene Cordero had a recurring role in the first season of Loki as Casey, a Time Variance Authority receptionist who had a comedic run-in with the God of Mischief. He was an unfortunate but likeable character, so it’s good to know that we’ll see him again in season 2.

That said, things will be different this time around. With a new timeline taking form, the character has a new life as Hunter K-5E. Is this the same version of the character or a variant plucked from his life and given a role on the TVA as a hunter (like Hunter B-15)? We’ll have to wait and see.

Nevertheless, the increased role as a series regular will mean actor Eugene Cordero will likely have more to do this season. As for where you might have seen him before Loki, he has been a regular presence in comedies over the years, with main roles in Other Space and Tacoma FD and recurring roles on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and The Good Place.

Rafael Casal as Brad Wolfe

When Rafael Casal was first cast in Loki season 2 it was in a undisclosed role. It has since been disclosed and it’s pretty huge, especially for the Marvel Comics fans. It turns out that he will be playing a character named Brad Wolfe, who appears to be an actor starring in the movie The Zaniac. However, he is also a variant and, as a result, is hunted by the TVA.

In the comics, Wolfe is also an actor who morphs into a beast that believes he truly is The Zaniac after a horrible accident. Could he be set for a similar path in the MCU?

Casal is best-known for writing and starring in the 2018 movie Blindspotting with best friend Daveed Diggs. He subsequently reprised the role in the spinoff TV series. He next appears in the film Wildcat, a biographical movie about the life of American novelist Flannery O’ Connor.

Liz Carr as Judge Gamble

Liza Carr will be one of the new additions in Loki season 2. She will play the role of Judge Gamble, which implies that the character will be a replacement for Judge Ravonna Renslayer. That’s all we know about her right now, as Marvel has not disclosed any other information about the character at this moment in time, but we’re excited to see what kind of role she will play.

Carr’s best known role to date is likely as Clarissa Mullery on long-running British crime drama Silent Witness – a role which she played from 2013 to 2020. You might also have seen her in The OA, Devs, The Witcher, or Good Omens. She also appeared in acclaimed British TV movie Then Barbara Met Alan.

Katie Dickie as General Dox

Katie Dickie joins the cast of Loki in its second season as a new character named General Dox. Like most of the new additions, we don’t know anything about her, and outside of a cameo appearance in the season 2 trailer, she remains a complete mystery.

Dickie has an extensive catalog of movies, television, and stage roles to her name. However, she is perhaps best known to a wider audience for her role as Lysa Arryn in Game of Thrones. If you live in the UK, you’ve likely seen her appear in an abundance of TV shows such as Vera, Taggart, or The Alienist but her biggest role was undoubtedly as Lex in Tinsel Town. She starred in the thriller film Red Road in 2006 and has since appeared in a number of major movies, including Prometheus and The Witch and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Are you excited to return to the world of Loki and catch up with old faces and meet the new ones?
