5 things nobody wants to admit about Attack on Titan

3. Sasha didn’t have to die
In the universe of Attack on Titan, death is not a possibility, it’s an inevitability.
From Marco Bodt and Hannes to Ymir and Mike Zacharias, we’ve seen so many of our favorite characters alive and thriving on our screens one second and then become a lifeless corpse in the next. Some of these deaths still hurt us to this day, especially since most of these people are kind people who couldn’t hurt a fly. But no death hurt the entire fandom more than the unfortunate and untimely passing of Sasha Braus.
Some might argue that Sasha’s death moved the plot along. After all, when she died, at first, it seemed as though Eldia was successful in their plan to infiltrate Marley to retrieve a rogue Eren Yaeger. But then, moments later, she was gone, serving as a reminder that there are truly no victors in the game of war. However, could have that been done in a different way that didn’t come at the expense of someone’s life?
We worry that Sasha’s death may have just been for shock value because her death didn’t necessarily serve a more unique greater purpose that wasn’t already established. Marley and Eldia were already going to war; Eren was already dead-set on his plan to wipe out all of humanity via The Rumbling; Eldian soldiers were already tired of burying their comrades. What did Sasha’s death add to the story aside from the reminder that life is extremely fickle?
Although we don’t know how drastically the show would’ve changed if Sasha was still alive, we think that she still had so much to add to the story. Specifically, adding more numbers to those who society needs to survive to thrive because, by the time the story ended, it seemed Mikasa Ackerman and Annie Leonhart were the only two female powerhouses left. It sure would’ve been nice to see Sasha right beside them.
